7D DSLR used for German Production in Melbourne

Roger Price used the Canon 7D as second unit along with the XDCAM HD for all the in car and external car mounting scenes on Melbourne’s busy freeways for the American- German production company, Storyhouse Productions. Main camera unit was shot xdcamHD.

“These scenes  were  for the Galileo X.perience episode “Chase Weir”, a story about a guy who was trapped in a Ford Explorer, which was out of control at 100 km/h. The 7D was fantastic at being able to be mounted millimetres above the road, in the car and outside fast. The pictures were also amazing ” – Roger Price

At the moment Storyhouse Productions are producing Galileo X.perience for the German broadcaster ProSieben. The idea is to tell the stories of people who experience extreme situations all over the world combined with real-live footage, expert interviews, experiments and high end CGI. Story House worked together with Viva Vision to shoot three stories which all took place in Victoria Australia.

“During the filming the main question was, how to emphasise visually the interviews of the main protagonists. Re-enactments were not possible because of limited time and budget. Roger came up with the idea to use the 7D for flashbacks, point-of-views, extreme close up etc. to give the stories a more cinematic feeling without losing the documentary style. Now we have visually unique and very thrilling episodes which already enthused the client in first screenings.” – Stephan / Producer Storyhouse

Story House Productions is an international, award-winning TV production company based in Berlin, Munich and Washington D.C. The Berlin office is specialises in documentaries for clients such as the BBC, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and ZDF Germany.
